The series

Never showed in France, Spartacus: Blood and Sand is about the life of the eponymous hero, gladiator against his will. This warrior is betrayed by a Roman general: his wife is taken away from him and himself is sold to a gladiator fight organizer.

Among hostile fellow gladiators, he will have to fight for his life and maybe see his wife again some day, but also please his new masters.

The series is produced by the film director Sam RAIMI (Spider-Man) and Rob TAPPERT who had both already been part of the heroic fantasy projects Hercules and Xena in the 90s.
